Free Island Pioneers wanted - 2008/07/02 08:05 At http://www.vladi-private-islands.de/sale/site/html/cms_de-sale_detail_en-1074/Mutton%20Island.html you can see that Mutton Island with 185 Acres is for sale at 1,100,000 Euro. The text says: "... Mutton Island has had a ... history as a self-sufficient continually inhabited island supporting up to twelve families, ...". So that would be 100,000 Euro per Family and probably again that much to build housing and needed infrastructure (if we agree to help each other and are somewhat flexible with the level of comfort).

If we take a credit of 200,000 Euro at 8% intrest (we probably can get it much lower) we could pay it of in 30 years with a monthly payment of 1500 Euro. This I consider manageable. Anybody intrested?

Re:Free Island Pioneers wanted - 2008/07/10 12:02 Good find!
Only I have to say of all the islands that are for sale, this one looks very COLD! Being in the east Atlantic and having what looks like no natural shelter whatsoever. It´s so flat I can already feel my bones chilling at the idea of a good storm razing over the island.
Maybe I´m spoiled, but if I were to choose an island I would go for something a little warmer and a little richer in natural resources.
BTW: was the 1500 monthly per family or for the whole island? (my math is poor)

Re:Free Island Pioneers wanted - 2008/07/10 13:42 the 1500 would be per family.
And as for the climate, I actually like it colder. You can always wear clothes against the cold but you can do nothing against the heat.
